National Workshop on Building Capacity for Localising SDGs

India is a signatory to the UN General Assembly Resolution A/Res/701/1 “Transforming our world: the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development”. Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) constitute the core of the 2030 agenda. There are 17 SDGs and 169 associated targets which are to be achieved by 2030. The SDGs comprehensively cover social, economic and environmental dimensions and are expected to help organise and streamline development action for greater achievement of human well-being.

The 2030 Agenda and its sustainable development goals from the most comprehensive blueprint to date for eliminating extreme poverty, reducing inequality and protecting the planet. It is a plan of action for people, our planet and prosperity, which requires all countries and stakeholders to act in concert.  By endorsing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, including its 17 Sustainable Development Goals, the world community has reaffirmed its commitment to the three pillars of sustainable development, namely – to ensuring sustained and inclusive economic growth, social inclusion, and environmental protection.
